Bartertown Late Night has gone out with a bang! Thanks for all the great times!
About BurritoTown
BurritoTown was started to bring farm fresh creative food to Grand Rapids for the after 10pm crowd. BurritoTown puts time and energy into bringing something more then just a late night hangover cure. We also wanted to create a place to gather without alcohol and dim lights because believe it or not not everybody wants that.
BurritoTown runs on the same idea as BarterTown 100% worker run along with that comes a fair and positive working environment. We look forward to the future of this idea for Grand Rapids and the workers involved.

All I got to say is that your place is a sad example of true vegan and vegetarian food. I’m not either but the fact that you don’t have salads made with local ingredients is the first red flag. The second red flag is your focus on processed veggie products and carbohydrates to the max. I mean carbs are a detriment to human health leading to health issues and obesity. Please learn something about true vegetarian food instead of serving sandwiches White flour products. Oh but I forgot you are serving West Michigan, a severely overweight region that has no clue about the amazing things you can make with veggies. I guess it’s not your fault because who would actually buy healthy food,

We actually get our produce exclusively from local farms and producers, as well as our beans and grains. The fact you’re posting on the Burritotown page possibly indicates your only exposure to our restaurant is the 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. operation we run offering mainly burritos and tacos to the late night crowd. Our tortillas and taco shells are from local producers as well, although they may not have the same nutrition density as our other carbohydrate-based items.
We’d like to extend an invitation to our daytime hours as well. There is a more diverse menu of sandwiches with whole grain, locally made breads, raw entrees, and more vegetable-centric dishes altogether. As far as salads go, finding one at a vegan/vegetarian restaurant seems to us to be the low-hanging fruit, if you’ll pardon the pun. We try to be more creative than just lettuce, some summer veggies and dressing, and there are many who’ve already let us know our menu reflects that.
One of our founders has spent a lot of time driving around the US and commented that BarterTown is the only place that uses 100% farm-fresh produce. Our restaurant is also based on offering equal pay and equal say to each worker from the dishwashers to the artists.
You’re more than welcome to your own opinion, but it’s hard to tell if you’ve really been to the diner during normal hours (see the hours page) based on the aim of your comment. If you ever do get a chance to stop in, we really think you might change your mind after trying another one of our main entrees.
I think you are way off, W’ojo. Since you’re not a vegan or vegetarian, I would imagine you haven’t spent much time researching it either (as many who are, do). The foods that Bartertown serves and the ingredients they use are vastly superior to the foods found in the typical American diet, and the ingredients found at a normal grocery store. So, regardless of whether or not it is a meal that is higher in carbs, the ingredients that make up the carbs are much better than you would find in a typical restaurant. Also, salads are for the birds. If you want a salad, go to Applebees. Most salads you find at restaurants are about as nutritional as a piece of foam. Before bashing this fine, fresh, fantastic establishment, please perform the proper amount of research first. If you get the nutritional facts for the burritos at Bartertown and you find that they are as high in carbs, fats, processed foods, and all the other garbage you may find in a frozen, store bought burrito, or a burrito from taco bell, then come back and say your worst. But, until then, I think that a pat on the back to Bartertown is in order for being the only place where a vegan can go in GR to get a great tasting, healthy, vegan meal, and even get a late night burrito fix!
W,ojo don’t be an A,holo.
I think it’s nice going to a restaurant that caters to vegetarians and vegans with out taking the easy way out with salads like almost every other restaurant. As a vegetarian for 8 and a half years, one of my biggest struggles going out to eat has been finding a hot meal that isn’t pasta or a greasy fried appetizer. I absolutely love the chickpea melt (as well as everything else I have tried) at Bartertown. I live 45 minutes away and still go out there for dinner whenever I get the chance.
W,ojo probably doesn’t understand any of this if they aren’t vegetarian or vegan and they think carbs are what is responsible for obesity. I’m 5’4″ 118 lbs, far from obese, and I eat carbs. Exercise and balancing your meals W,ojo….. not all of West Michigan is obese.
